Plastic Injection moulding is the process of heating up plastic granules and then injecting the material into the cavity of moulds.
The mould itself can be designed and created right here at Rogers.
To be able to create a cost effective project, moulded parts must be produced in high quantities. If you were looking at producing 200 parts could cost as much as $400 per part, once the price of the mould has been taken into consideration. Whilst creating the same project, but this time producing 200,000 parts, the price could be reduced to only $1.50. Once again, this example depends on the mould created. But all in all, the higher the production volume, the more beneficial Plastic Injection Moulding is.
The cost per part is really determined on the weight, thickness, quantity, accuracy and size that is required. We do offer a complete consultancy service to guide you through the process. We will also be able to provide guidance in selecting the correct components to ensure your complete satisfaction.
Having to go through the exercise of creating a tool can be a very costly exercise as there are quite a few determinates. The part complexity, the size of the part and any additional additives to the mould including steel grade and finish all have to be taken into account.
